London Wildlife – Wildlife Removal London, Ontario
Serving London, Ontario · Mon–Fri 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m.
London Wildlife stops mice and rats getting into homes and businesses in London, Ontario. We inspect the whole building, find every gap rodents are using, and seal them with chew-proof metal and heavy-gauge screening so new rodents can’t get in. For mice and rats already inside, we typically use professional rodent bait, or traps if you prefer. Our exclusion work comes with a 5-year guarantee on the entry points we seal. Call 226-271-5510.
Mice and rats are good at staying out of sight. Most people find the signs before they see the animal:
If you see one mouse in the daytime, there are usually more you haven’t seen.
Knowing which rodent you have changes how the job is done.
| Sign | House mouse | Norway rat |
|---|---|---|
| Size | Small and slender, body about the length of your thumb | Large and heavy, body about the length of your hand or longer |
| Droppings | Small, like grains of rice | Larger, like a raisin or olive pit |
| Where they live | Inside walls, cupboards, attics and stored boxes | Burrows outside, basements, garages, sewers and crawl spaces |
| Gap they can fit through | About the width of a pencil | About the width of a large coin |
| Noise | Light scratching | Heavier scratching and gnawing |
Both can live in London homes year-round once they’re inside. Rats tend to stay low, near the ground and water, while mice will climb into walls and attics.
Rodents don’t need a big hole. Mice can squeeze through a gap about the width of a pencil, and rats through a gap about the size of a large coin. Common entry points on London homes:
Older homes near downtown, in Old North, Old South and Wortley Village, often have more gaps in old brick, stone foundations and around original windows. Newer homes aren’t immune: gaps around utility lines and garage doors are common in every neighbourhood.
Mice and rats can get in any time of year, but fall is the busiest season in London. As nights get colder, from about September to November, mice look for warm shelter and food. That’s when calls about scratching in walls and droppings in the kitchen pick up. Sealing a home before fall is the best way to stop it.
1. Inspection. We inspect the outside of the building from the foundation to the roof line, plus the garage, attic and crawl space where we can reach them. We look for droppings, rub marks, burrows and every gap a rodent could use. Every home is different, so we inspect first and give you an exact quote before any work starts.
2. Identify the rodent. Droppings, tracks and damage tell us whether it’s mice, rats or both, which shapes the rest of the job.
3. Exclusion and sealing. We seal entry points with chew-proof metal and heavy-gauge screening that rodents can’t gnaw through. Vents get metal guards. Gaps around pipes and lines are closed. Burrows along the foundation are dealt with and the area is screened where needed.
4. Mice and rats already inside. Sealing stops new rodents, but the ones already inside still have to be dealt with. We typically use professional rodent bait (rodenticide) because it’s very effective, and it’s always your choice. If you’d rather not use bait, traps are the alternative, but they have to be checked and emptied.
5. Follow-up visit (included). We come back to check that the sealing is holding and look for any sign of new activity.
6. 5-year guarantee. Our exclusion work comes with a 5-year guarantee: rodents won’t get through any of the work we did. The guarantee covers only the entry points we sealed. It doesn’t cover new openings from other causes, such as roof damage or shingles torn off later.
For mice and rats that are already in the home, you have two options, and the choice is yours:
We use rodent bait only for mice and rats already inside the home, and only if you agree to it. Our wildlife removal (raccoons, squirrels, bats, skunks, opossums and birds) stays humane and chemical-free.
Bait and traps deal with the rodents that are inside now. They don’t stop the next ones. As long as the gaps stay open, new mice will keep finding their way in, especially every fall.
Exclusion fixes the cause. Once every gap is sealed with materials rodents can’t chew through, new mice and rats can’t get in. That’s why our work is built around finding and sealing entry points, and why we can back it with a guarantee.
Mice and rats carry bacteria and parasites, and their droppings and urine can contaminate food, counters and stored items. Rodents chew constantly to keep their teeth short, and they damage:
Wear gloves when cleaning up droppings, don’t sweep or vacuum them dry, and wash your hands well afterwards. If droppings have built up in an attic, we offer clean-up. See Attic Clean-Up.
Most wildlife removal jobs in London cost about $700 to $2,000+, plus HST, and rodent exclusion follows the same pricing. A small home with a few gaps can cost less. Large homes with many entry points, rats burrowing along the foundation, or droppings clean-up cost more. Every home is different, so we inspect first and give you an exact quote.
What changes the price:
The follow-up visit is included, and the sealing is backed by our 5-year guarantee. See the full price guide: Wildlife Removal Cost in London.

Look at the droppings. Mouse droppings are small, about the size of a grain of rice. Rat droppings are much larger, about the size of a raisin. Rats also dig burrows along foundations and under decks, while mice usually nest inside walls and cupboards.
A mouse can squeeze through a gap about the width of a pencil. A rat can fit through a gap about the size of a large coin. That’s why we seal small gaps around pipes, vents and garage doors, not just obvious holes.
As nights get colder, mice look for warm shelter and food. If the gaps they used last year are still open, new mice will find them. Sealing those gaps before fall stops the cycle.
You can close obvious gaps, but foam and caulk alone won’t stop rodents, because they chew through them. Gaps need chew-proof metal or heavy-gauge screening, and the hardest ones to find are often at the roof line, behind siding or around utility lines. An inspection finds every gap at once.
Not through the entry points we seal. Our exclusion work comes with a 5-year guarantee on the entry points we seal. It doesn’t cover new openings from other causes, such as roof damage.
Mouse and rat droppings and urine can carry bacteria and contaminate food and surfaces. Wear gloves, don’t sweep or vacuum droppings dry, and wash your hands well. We offer clean-up for heavy droppings in attics.
For mice and rats already inside the home, we typically use professional rodent bait (rodenticide), because it’s very effective. It’s always your choice. If you’d rather not use bait, traps are the alternative, but they need to be checked and emptied. We also seal the entry points so new rodents can’t get in.
